Infant Massage Class

Taught by Margaret Hildahl, Certified Infant Massage Instructor

Introductory rate of $60 per family

Do you sometimes feel a yearning to connect deeply with your new baby, while navigating the busy world we live in today?  You are not alone! 

Join our Infant Massage Class and you will learn many ways to connect with your new baby.  Through touch we can develop the parent-baby bond in a deeper way.  You will begin to understand your baby’s cues, connect through eye-to eye contact, skin-to-skin, sound and smell.  

Infant Massage can help relieve discomfort from colic, help a baby sleep, and relieve tension in their little bodies.  In turn, as a mom, you will begin to feel more relaxed and often feelings of post-partum depression will be relieved.  In this four week class, you will learn how to massage your babies and we will talk in detail about the many benefits.  

There is a maximum of 6 babies in each class.  Mom, Dad, caregivers are invited.  We prefer babies to be at least 3 weeks old and under approximately 7 months. 

Scaredy Cat Potty Training

Taught by Amy Plass

This class will resume in the fall-date to be announced.

$35 Per family. Each family will receive a cloth trainer valued at $20 to help them get started on their Potty Training journey!

A one-hour class during which we will work together to develop a plan to protect your milk supply, nourish your baby, and facilitate bonding while you are separated from your baby. ?We will identify any booby traps that may hinder your breastfeeding relationship once you return to work or school and prepare for them. A worksite plan will also be created.

Not only will we develop a plan for breastfeeding and returning to work or school, we will also discuss:

  • How your milk supply works
  • How to protect your supply while separated from your baby
  • Handling growth spurts and illness while away from your baby
  • Breastmilk handling (expressing/pumping, storing, and feeding)
  • Preparing your caregiver on the breastfed baby
  • Nutrition to support breastmilk supply

Car Seat Safety Class

Car Seat Safety Basics:

Car seats can greatly reduce the risk of injury or death in a crash, but selecting the proper seat and installing it can feel a bit like rocket science. In Kootenai County, 80% of car seats are misused. This class will provide you with the information you need to make the best choices for your child to keep them safer on the road.

In this class, you will learn:

  • The 4 stages of car seat safety
  • Why it's best to max out each stage
  • Common mistakes and how to avoid them
  • Where to go to get your installation checked

Come Sing With Me

Taught by Tamara Orlandi, Music Teacher

Classes are a 4 Part Series held on Wednesdays starting at 10:45 am . Please plan to attend all 4 classes consecutively, unless you make prior arrangements with a Mother's Haven team member due to a planned absence. The class runs 35-45 minutes, depending on when the babies tire. For babies and tots 8 months to 36 months.

Come Sing with Me is led by music teacher Tamara who is an expert at facilitating fun and engaging music and movement experiences for groups of children and their parents or caregivers (nannies, babysitters, grandparents, or relatives.) Each weekly class offers dozens of songs and rhythmic rhymes, including fingerplays, small movement activities, and parachute time. Parents don't need to have music skills—they just need a desire to play and have fun with their children! 

Tamara Orlandi has been teaching music and movement classes for 18 years. As a past Gymboree instructor and current Kindergarten music teacher at Kinder Magic, Tamara incorporates dancing, singing, movement, fun and energy into her classes. Integrating music from birth on can support better speech and language development, balance and coordination, social interaction and a lifetime love of music. Intro to Cloth Diaperingis an informal class for anyone interested in cloth diapering. Whether you're expecting or looking to switch from disposables, this class will take you from skeptical to confident!

The class will cover the benefits of cloth diapering, common cloth diaper styles, and things to consider when choosing the best diapers for your family. We'll also cover washing basics, how to prep your diapers for use, and of course - what to do with the poop!

This class is an introduction to using signs with your babies.  We welcome families who are new to sign language.  Together we will learn signs that are commonly used when first beginning to sign, such as mom, dad, milk, more, etc., and a few others signs to have in "your back pocket" as you become more comfortable.  Parents will also learn basic information about the benefits of sign language and tips on how to introduce signs to their babies that will contribute to their signing success and make it a fun experience!

Together we will learn signs for things we see outdoors, such as friend, sun, flower, bee, squirrel, etc.  This class is geared toward families with older infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.  Some experience with sign language preferred but not necessary!

Simply Solids: Simplify the Introduction of Complementary Solid Foods

This is a  2-1/2 hour class designed to teach the art of breastfeeding to expectant parents.  In this class you will learn:

  • How breastfeeding works
  • What mother’s and baby’s bodies expect during lactation
  • The stages of lactation and what to expect at each stage
  • How spouses/partners and family members can support breastfeeding
  • The basics of getting started with breastfeeding
  • Breastfeeding positions and when to use them, including hands-on practice with models
  • Hands-on breastfeeding techniques and when to use them
  • When to call for help
  • Nutritional support and how dietary choices support (or hinder!) breastfeeding
  • How to incorporate breastfeeding into your daily life
  • Lactation tools and interventions: when they’re appropriate and how they’re used
